Hi! My name is Hilary Cotter. I am from Ballinlough; it is situated on the south side of the city, about two miles from Douglas Village. I am the youngest of three girls. After finishing my time in Ashton School on the Blackrock Rd., in 2001, I did a PLC course in Cloiste Stiofan Naofa on the Tramore Road. It is near Ballyphehane in Cork City. I studied software development in this college for two years. My class consisted of two girls including me, and five boys. I found that the smaller the class the more attention I received. I then applied for Computing in CIT in Bishopstown. I was accepted into the course and I am now in second year. My subjects for this year are
For the last two years, I have been working for Cado Ltd in Douglas, also known as Cinema World. I have been working in the box office for nearly a year and a half now. This area is probably the easiest to work in as I get to sit down for most of the day, but it can also be the hardest and the one with the most responsibility, as if a customer has a problem, query or a complaint to make it is usually place with the box office staff. During the week, I have to work two nights a week usually on a Monday from six thirty to ten o’ clock and on a Friday from six thirty to quarter past twelve as on a Friday and Saturday night we run late shows at eleven forty-five. During the weekend, I usually work eleven thirty to ten o’ clock on Saturday and Sunday, which can sometimes take over the whole weekend. Every week we get two free complimentary tickets, for use on most films.
Unfortunately, we only close two days a year for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Next summer, my boyfriend John and I hope to have enough money to travel around Europe for three months. I hope to spend a few weeks in Switzerland, in a little town called Zug as I have a friend there that I have not seen for nearly three years and I feel this might be a good time to catch up. I also hope to spend about a month and a half in France, as I would like to improve my French. On leaving school in 2001, I promised myself that within the next four to five years I would take time to learn French by spending some time in France on my own, that way I think I would be putting myself in at the deep end so hopefully it would help in making me speak the language. I also hope to spend about a month and a half in France, as I have always wanted to become fluent in French.
